It's not funny to be a Pakistani comedian in Bollywood
Who isn‘t aware of Shakeel Siddiqui? Those of you who aren‘t will be now.
Poor clown, the chap was recently harassed on the sets of his ‘Comedy Circus‘ show which has us all beaming on television since he first appeared, two seasons ago.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) goondas barged into a studio set on Jan 14 and asked him to pack-up immediately and maro kalti palti gully.
He is fondly referred to as ‘teeli‘ (matchstick) in comedy circles. They threatened to ignite his uhh...well...you know what...fuhget it. Let‘s just say they were in the mood to burn his behind with a teeli.
This led to a scuffle, when the producers stepped in to hold the orders, which has come from the political don Raj Thackeray himself.
Pakistani comedian Umer Sharif, who has worked with Shakeel in his ‘Bakri Kishto Pe‘ series, was quick to condemn the incident.
"Performing art people are very sensitive and such kind of treatment in India raises many questions and is very unfortunate."
This is coming to light, when most Pakistani artists working here have had to say ta-ta and move on to their fatherland.
But even quicker is Sharif‘s volte-face.
"I believe he should have gone to India after government‘s permission and making his trip public through media."
Which most of these migrating actors, in their quest for fame and money don‘t bother to do, for their own safety. Even as we discuss this, six friendly neighbourhood actors are working in Bollywood without any proper work permit!
All they have is a visiting visa. That makes it illegal for them to solicit work for their services here.
But the Pakistani artists are blaming the Indian High Commission in Islamabad for that. They say, they are given only visiting visa instead of work visa.
Then why put your life in danger and come? Is there dearth of work for you guys there in Pakistan?
Yes of course! Infact you guys don‘t even get work in your own country. Why come to India and be a ticking human bomb that could go off any sooner?
It‘s pretty evident more than ever right now those Pakistani artists will get fingered in this country, just as Indian artists endanger their lives when they go there for any kind of harmony-peace-charity concert. Face the music, its tit for tat!
The Pakistani High Commission in Delhi has been ordered by the Pakistani government officials to contact Shakeel and deport him where he belongs. We certainly don‘t want him to die in the hands of the unruly mob from MNS.
The producer of the comedy show, Sangeeta is miffed with the way things have turned ugly. "This affects the relationship between the film industries of both the countries."
Competition from Lollywood...oooh I‘m scared!
Shakeel was here just for laughs, and now we might have to weep and cry when the jokes get lame without him on that comedy show.
It is a manhoos time to tickle our funny bone.

good move
Though I do not like politics of MNS, but kicking out Pakis and specially like friends of Umer Sharif is an excellent move. I attended one show of Umer Sharif in USA and this guy was speaking more against India than any vocal terror outfit has even spoken. He went to the extreme of using vulgar offensive tones against all Indians, all Indian religious sentiments, PMs, actors, everyone. This dog earns his bread from Bollywood, but when he goes to his people, he shows his true color. | nitin

i think the bitch is racist - she has written a couple of article againt pakistanis which is wrong- i think she should write responsibly- ok there were terrorist atacks in india - but u cant belive any thing in the news its all propaganda and people who have a brain can make there own minds up as to what is right and wrong- they cant stil prove they were pakistanis- indians are just lying | sam
