Confessions Of A Beauty Queen |  2008-11-19

Who amongst these beauty queens is a role model?

Ever since Sushmita won the Miss Universe crown, organizers leave no fabric, no cut, no style unnoticed to groom these girls to the T, and ensure that the best designers of the country design the best outfits for them.

Even months after the pageant, their outfits are sponsored, to portray a perfect picture.

However, despite getting a broad exposure to the world of fashion, do these girls imbibe a sense of style? Does fashion and style go hand in hand?

Sushmita was the first Indian beauty to be given the status of the most beautiful woman in the universe? However, beauty encompasses a sense of style too. Does she match up to the standard in terms of carrying herself with elan?

The Bitch doesn‘t think so. Of late, she has gained oodles of weight, and no longer carries herself diva like, in those evening gowns. Her flab is jutting out, despite her choosing cuts and colors to hide them. She seems to have lost her spunk.

Her rival Aishwarya, despite faltering occasionally like at Cannes, where she wore an outfit that didn‘t stand out, has managed to fare much better in this respect. Though she carries of western outfits well, she looks best in Indian outfits. Shaina NC sarees is something she should stick to. Goes will with her good bahu image she has been tirelessly campaigning to project of herself. The Bitch is bored with her political correctness.

Diana, has a good personality, however she hardly makes public appearances. Whenever she has made, she has hardly been able to make waves with her sense of style. Her clothes are not the kind that can turn heads or set the trend on fire.

Same goes for Lara Dutta. She has a strong personality, but is hardly seen dressing in a manner so as to instill a sense of envy.

Her contemporary and rival, Priyanka pays a lot more attention to up her style quotient. Most of the times she is seen in ultra-short clothes, however, she has made sure to build the right frame, attitude and choose the right designers for her. However, she is not without her fashion blunders.

Dia Mirza is said to have that pristine beauty and delicate and feminine frame. The clothes that she chooses compliment her personality, face and frame. But has she ever made a statement? Look at what one gown did to Liz Hurley!

Tanushree Dutta is one girl, who needs to go for a wardrobe overhaul. Merely choosing designer outfits won‘t help her. She needs to undergo a retraining, to instill a sense of style in her, if she has missed that out after winning the Miss India crown.

Gul has a good face, and a sexy body, with proportionate assets. However, overexposure of that body and cleavage drives away audience interest. She should restrict herself to expose only once in a while.

Who do you think should be crowned the style icon amongst these has-been beauty queens? Which one of these girls could give a tip to girls contesting to take on the world of beauty. Let‘s start.

Gul with the wind

Gul has perhaps the best face. A cute dimple and a nice bod. But unfortuntaley she looses out cause she lacks oomph. Indian male wont lust after her. So she loses out to the rest | Diptarup

I think Dia Mirza would be the best. The other‘s in my opinion have no sense of style, or show too much... ex:Priyanka and Tanushree | krishna

Has to be..

It definitely has to be Sush!.. she beats the rest on your list hands down. Yeah.. she‘s put on some weight.. but wtf?!.. everyone does at some point, right? its no big blunder. She‘s still got the DiVa in her. | sANTa..

Aishwarya Rai is the only one who still looks like a Beauty Queen despite her poor sense of style and bad figure. Nothing beats a beautiful face, grace and poise.

Priyanka Chopra is in good form and has those legs to carry off short dresses but is no style or beauty icon.

Lara Dutta exudes great confidence and personality which sometimes overpowers what she wears. One does‘nt really think too much of her sense of style because she still has amazing presence.

And speaking about presence, Sushmita Sen may have put on a ton of weight but again she is so confident and appears so sure of herself that you can‘t really write her off even though she has no dressing sense forget style.

Dia Mirza who is often well turned out and looks great at times, happens to be very pretty, does not have a good aura or personality to boot.

I never knew Tanushree Dutta was a Miss India, good her! As for Gul Panag, nice face, that‘s all I can say.

It‘s sad none of them make great style icons, just makes you think that God does‘nt give you everything, if he blesses you with a beautiful face and body, he gives you less sense in the style department.

P.S. Diana Hayden is a great girl (nope she is not my friend, its just the vibes I get from her) | Annie

Diana‘s english faux pas at big-boss!!!!

hello hello my fav. biatch!

Well i don‘t know who is the "best" amongst our harvest of beauty queens, I personally like sush, but am a little disdained by her new avatar of a "Rekha-wannabe".

But one girl who def. doesn‘t make it is Ms. Diana Hayden. Apart from being the fattest miss India we ever had, the designers had to actually make a sp. designed gown for her miss world pageant, where she insisted she wear white! the sp. design was to make her look thinner.

Her stint at big boss only made things worse for her as she came across as one of the most pretentious and fake-fake-fake woman ever!

The "HIN-D Nai ata" act was the first thing. I mean she pretends to be proud of her language skills, but has no qualms pretending she cant speak or understand the national language! where did u come from diana? did the british forget you behind when they left. And she was "miss-India", but the way she pretends to be un-connected to the sub continent looks like the lady completely "missed-india" in her up bringing. Take a cue from Sush, she flawlessly speaks her english, hindi and Urdu.

There is unlimited footage of Diana teaching the Saran-pur da jatt munda Ashu, the finer details of the queens language. This to a guy who possibly doesn‘t even know how to recite the eng alphabet.

I remember the funny incident that occured in the kitchen as Diana dedicatedly tried to correct Ashu‘s pronounciation of the word "heavily".

As the lady corrected his pronounciation, the clueless munda kept repeating in his Haryanvi "HAVILY" to Diana‘s "hev-uh-li". This continued for 5-6 times, and Ashu had no idea what he was saying wrong!!!

So our miss-INDia thought spelling the word out might give Ashu a better idea, so she spelled it out for him:
I quote:

"hev-uh-li Ashu! H-E-V-Y heavy hota haina? so H-E-V-I-L-Y is hev-uh-li"

even Ashu thout the spelling didn‘t sound right and he asked her atleast twice if thats how it was spelled, but obviously miss hayden was confident!!!

i couldn‘t stop laughing for the next 10 mins. I mean we all know how Mrs Wadia‘s enunciation classes for miss-India‘s ensure that they all come out speaking correctly, and that was the gyaan that Hayden tried to pass on to AShu as much as possible, what he would benefit from it, is something she only knows.

But even a 4th grader knows the spelling of the word is H-E-A-V-Y and not H-E-V-Y.

I guess Maureen, instead of just oral lessons in english diction you should teach the girls the written form and spellings too!

The question I ask myself is. Diana "HIN-D NAi bhol suck-tha", and english also she learnt probably after her miss-india classes, then where on earth did she come from??? I think the lady is from some other planet all together!
