Who is Bollywood's future fashion icon?
Isn‘t that a hard question to answer? I mean, with so little choice, how does one decide who is most stylish in India, and who will carry the torch?
Bollywood has never been synonymous with style really. Glamour yes, style, no. And though slowly and steadily there seems to be some talent creeping in, it‘s still virgin territory for most of our actresses.
Let‘s start with the yesteryears. There was Madhuri, who had her own sensuous style, even though it was so not classy. Then there was Sridevi, who could be best described as a child in a woman‘s body. There was also Juhi Chawla, who was so much like the girl next door that you never really expected her to dress up.
The first style icon in my eyes was Karisma Kapoor, who transformed herself from a ugly duckling to a hottie in ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai‘. Her belly bearing outfits made her the rage of the nation. Post marriage, she is looking like a million bucks, but will that be enough to give her a toe-hold back in Bollywood?
Another hottie that deserves a mention is Urmila Matonadkar, who redefined what street style was with ‘Rangeela‘. Her tight jeans, collared shirts and billowy dresses made us look at her in a new light.
But let‘s get back to the present. There are only a handful of actresses who deserve a mention. Let‘s start with Bebo, Miss Kareena, who has got her sister‘s unique sense of style. And though I would not recommend her anorexic figure to anyone, she did look great in ‘Tashan‘ and ‘Jab We Met‘.
Kareena‘s charm is that she can look really expensive, but can also look like a Bhatinda ki ladki, all with panache. So be it a salwar kurta, jeans, or a extra short pink dress and blonde wig in ‘Dil Dance Mare‘, she has got it made.
Priyanka Chopra is a strong contender too. If the promos of ‘Dostana‘ are anything to go by, she has a sculpted body that she isn‘t afraid to flaunt. So be it a golden bikini or a backless red mini dress, Priyanka has got the oomph. But put her in a salwar kameez, and she looks like ghati.
And that face, well it just doesn‘t suit everything. If it ain‘t groomed the way it is, she does have the ability to look like just another girl.
That brings me to Katrina. Pretty, smart and well spoken, Salman‘s girlfriend has everything going for her. But strangely enough, I have never seen her making a style statement, be it in her films or personally. I have never noticed her clothes, and that doesn‘t say much for her style sense.
Last but not the least, there is Sonam, who seems to have embraced high fashion quite well. If you have seen her wearing dhoti style dresses at events, you know what I mean.
I am particularly not speaking about Deepika, because she is a perfect clothes horse, and I don‘t see her personal style shining out.
But who out of these girls is the ideal fashion icon? There are plenty I haven‘t even touched. Who should the young girls of Indian emulate? Kareena with her extra thin body, Priyanka with her barely there dresses, Katrina with no personal style, or high fashion slave Sonam.
If I had to choose, I would say Kareena, because somewhere I see an attitude in the way she dresses that‘s completely hers. And that‘s the way style is developed, it has to stem out of who you are. But why don‘t you let me know what you think. You decide.

I agree with you, Kareena has a sense of style that‘s all her own. Not keen on the stick figure body she‘s presently sporting but her fashion has been near impeccable. Both Katrina and Priyanka lack a personal touch in their styling. And all Sonam does is where abstract designs and show up for parties! | Titi

Katrina is not well spoken at all. Her accent is very lower class American. She sounds like she needs to go for elocution classes in English too! | Catty Tonic
Sonam- the high- end fashionista!
Sonam has VERY nice fashion sense, i have been inspired by her high-end fashion style. she has a very nice figure, & looks very high-class & "elite" when she goes to parties. but deepika looks like a total low-grade w***e! | Sanya

Kareena does‘nt impress me at all with her style, she seems unbothered about clothes and dressing up in general. She models well, but she‘s not stylish just a ‘safe‘ dresser. The same can be said for her sister Karisma who always seems to sport black. They play by the rules and rarely experiment.
Sonam is a complete fashionista, she maybe wearing the best designer clothes but atleast she takes risks like with that dhoti hem dress. Its too soon to say whether she will emerge as the most stylish or not.
Nobody here is ever consistent when it comes to looking good in clothes always, somewhere somebody always screws up, even the most well dressed.

I dont agree with the bitch here!! Have you ever seen Kareena wearing bold clothes or even something different? I think not! So how can she be a fashion icon?? I believe it is all about experimenting.. they all follow the rules from the playbook..
Sonam seems pretty free spirited n is bold compared to her couter part deepika aka the bull (she seems too angry even when she is smiling all coz of her bullish nostrils)she is a media w***e anyways.. I think instead of kareena it should be sonam :) | Krishna
