Rahman is bringing home an Oscar, guess who else is...
You heard it here first. No prayer, no magic. The Bitch looked into the future.
Rahman is getting 1 Oscar this year. Don‘t ask me to see the second in my crystal ball. It‘s still a bit blurry to see the twin peaks!!
Though I think it‘s a feat to have got the Golden Globe, which says that the Oscar is due.
This will be our first win in 80 years!!! Not forgetting Satyajit Ray who was ignored, only to be given a token lifetime achievement trophy when he was on his death bed.
Rahman is competing and winning. It is well deserved. If not for the overall quality of the film‘s music, then at least his oeuvre as one of India‘s greatest talent, unlike Ray, who was overlooked for very long.
While people will crib as to what‘s the big deal, it is indeed a big deal. Those who say we suck up for these acknowledgments from the west should go stick their tongue in the mud.
It isn‘t so important to get the Oscar, as it is a platform for the whole world to see what we can do. The awards ceremony is a portal to new vistas.
In which category has he been nominated?
He‘s been nominated for 3 Oscars. One for Best Original Score, and 2 for the songs ‘Jai Ho‘ and ‘O Saya‘ from ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘.

The Bitch got this from the Madras Mozart, "I did not think it will get there, it‘s unbelievable. God has been really kind. And I have to really thank the prayers of all the people and their good wishes."
Silly man, being ever so humble, about time the world saw what he can do with his musical fingers.
The icing on the cake is not that only Rahman, but Gulzar saab will get his first Oscar too, if ‘Jai Ho‘ gets the best original song trophy.

Gulzar saab wired from the Jaipur lit fest, "This Academy Award nomination is also a recognition for Indian cinema and a reassurance for my work that has given me new energy to keep going ahead."
If the Oscar had come through a film, I don‘t think I would have been so happy, but these 2 honorable men, Rahman and Gulzar saab truly deserve to bring attention to top quality Bollywood products.
