Another Yash Raj flick goes down the drain!
One of B-Town‘s biggest production houses, Yash Raj Films has been going through an extremely lean patch for a while now.
What‘s worse is that things just don‘t seem to be improving for them at all!
Yash Raj‘s latest flick ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic‘ has also failed miserably in all respects. After delivering two continuous hits, even Kunal Kohli couldn‘t help their cause.
Light hearted films, off beat films, comedies, they‘ve tried it all but nothing seems to be working as of now.
The Bitch really wonders what they will do next.
‘Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic‘ opened with very low collections all over and picked up slightly over the weekend, but dropped again on Monday. It was expected that the movie will do well, especially after a few good reviews that it got.
Looks like people would rather watch a dyslexic Darsheel Safary rather than a bunch of over smart kids!
Film critic Abhijit Mhamunkar says, "On Friday when the movie released the collections were not good but it improved on the weekend. But the collections have dropped on Monday and Tuesday."
Now that the movie has fallen flat both Aditya and Kunal are blaming each other. According to Aditya the product is not good. Kunal on the other hand feels that the movie was not publicised properly and also Yash Raj Films sold the rights to all the wrong people.
According to Kunal there were a couple of giant corporate houses who wanted to acquire the rights of the movie but Aditya didn‘t sell it to them.
These guys were so hapless that they were actually intimidated by Sahil Chadda‘s embarrassment, ‘Thodi Life Thoda Magic‘.
Yash Raj made sure the movie wasn‘t released in any of the multiplexes.
Abhijit further adds, "With two big releases (‘Jaane tu ya jaane na‘ and ‘Love story 2050‘) on this Friday there are remote changes that ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic‘ will fare good. Audience will go for fresh releases and not ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic‘ which is already in news for not doing well".
What‘s more surprising and shocking is that in some places like Punjab the collection of the movie is as low as Rs 500. Now that is absolute pittance and you can‘t blame the Chopras for pressing the panic button.
The Bitch‘s source who is actively involved in trade analysis says, "Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic was never a great movie and it opened with very low collections. The movie did well on weekends because of corporate and blocks booking but the collections dipped again on Monday and Tuesday."
Also, it‘s been quite some time since Saif delivered a solo hit. His last release ‘Tashan‘ also failed miserably, but it at least had Akshay Kumar and a few bikini scenes from Kareena as the saving grace.
This one however, had nothing going for it.
Yash Raj is now geared up for its next release, ‘Bachna Aye Haseeno‘ with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead.
With movies like Akshay Kumar‘s ‘Singh is Kingg‘ releasing alongside, The Bitch really wonders if the movie can do anything radical to alter Yashraj‘s fortunes.
