Should we ask Pakistani artists to sing our National Anthem?
Guest Pakistani singers cannot have a say in how things are working against them in the Indian film industry.
The Shiv Sena ban on Karachi singers thronging the country to rake in the money for their fresh sounds and bhai-chaara has fueled a lot of unsolicited remarks.
Not one Pakistani artist‘s view has been covered on the recent spate of events which has barred legendary singer Ghulam Ali from performing in the country.
While noted Indian musicians who have no work are happy to hog the limelight with their expert opinions, the Pakistani counterparts have not been able to express their side to the story.
It is no new story that ever since the Pakistani pop bands made it big in South East Asia, their favourite destination for rozi-roti has been Bollywood which accepts them with open arms and treats them with love.
On the other hand, if a singer from this country ventures into Pakistan for a concert, he is troubled by miscreants who try to disrupt the show in the country, for no apparent reason.
If an artist from India crosses border as a dove holding an olive branch, he is met with heavy security concerns. Even then, some of them brace themselves without fear to extend a musical bridge to gap the divide.
Somehow it isn‘t working for our artists who risk their lives in a peace initiative. Art is all very well to share and communicate through, but it just does not serve the purpose to peace keeping measures.
In such harried times, is it fair to ban Pakistani artists from performing in India?
Our artists have never sought work in Pakistan for money. What they can offer for our talent is laughable. Instead, what we generously give them in not only a safe bank balance, but a respectable platform to the world.
What has the Pakistani awaam done to reciprocate for our artists? Piracy is not the way to appreciate talent.
What about the music and film fraternity in their country which is so burdened under the excess of our kindness that it cannot speak up for us, even when our country‘s maestros support them.
If their government and the people are helpless in safeguarding our artists, we are made equally helpless by our governments in power who safeguard every imported singer in our country.
But they never learn by loving their neighbor!

EAse up Bitch
I usually enjoy reading your articles, however Bitch, you‘ve been going too far recently. Stop promoting hate between the two nations. The people are not the problem, the government and those who think of themselves as "religious" (without even knwing the meaning of the word) are. This is a problem on both sides of the border, and Pakistanis are not suffering any less than Indians. The people of these two nations have so much in common, and it‘s a shame that people seem to be so intent on promoting hate and disaccord between them. You should be more responsible Bitch, and respect everyone who comes in to read your article for the love of Bllywood. I assure you, your readers come from all walks of life, and many of your most loyal readers come from the nation that you seem to hate so much. | Anon

Tut Tut!
Its sad that a group of radical extremites could change your opinions about the whole population of a country. I dont freakin care about the singers coming to india, but there are people who are ordinary and have nothing to with hatred towards India and anybody else, if you want to ban singers because they are getting all the opportunities from bollywood from Indian singers than be it but using the devastating happening of Mumbai Blasts as your excuse to hate everyone who is related to Pakistan or Islam is demeaning and hurtful even to Indians. | Mannie
Bitch, I am glad that you have the guts to speak your mind on this issue. Your piece does not come across as jingoistic. Instead, you make some very valid arguments here. Bitch on! | Sonia
goodword
Just wanted to congratulate the bitch on all the good work. Great article. good job!!!! India needs to read this | madhu
correct....why do we care. We have our own self respect. We cannot tolerate them coming here, plying their trade and making money.
Not only are we mistrusted back in their country but we are also reviled and they import terror to our country.
It is time to show them their place. Ban these guys. | Kiran
I agree with you bitch! People who are still talking about peace and friendship should go to hell! I sometimes wonder how people can be so blind and insensitive. I really want to see the reaction of shitheads like Anon and Mannie if their relative would have died in these terrorist attacks. WAKE up People. I think government should stop giving VISA‘s to pakis. | big boss
In times like these does it make sense for Pakistani artists coming down and "entertaining" us. I mean how can we appreciate some one like Aatif Aslam singing a love song, when all we feel right now is anger towards his nation? Even though he or any one else is in no way responsible for what happened. After all emotions do matter. And remember it was a Pakistani beauty queen who stated that her country‘s image was tarnished by this incident | Dipto
I agree with u BITCH..Truth is always harsh and bitter..Those who r saying it in democratic way,(i mean all BLAH BLAH that perfomance shouldn‘t be biased as per boundaries) will come to know if they will loose someone from their own family...keep up this gud work BITCH..i m with u... | sonia
